SELF
(french language ergonomics society) is since a long time (1963) the association
that gather the more persons interested in ergonomics in france. SELF
is well known abroad due to its actions in french speaking countries (Canada,
North Africa...) and due to special relation created with some countries
(Bresil, Argentina...).
Inside the country, various association gather ergonomist or interested
persons (GERRA
in "Rhône alpes", MIDACT in "midi Pyrénées"…).
In france, the "ergonomist" label is nowadays acquired trough a PHD diploma. At the european level, 12 countries (at the moement) defined a common "pot" of skills and diplomas taht define what is a "european ergonomist". This title is protected and regulated by the CREE center regulation european ergonomist, represented in france by ARTEE.
Since 1998, ergonomists french union (SNCE) exists and gather more than 40% of the french agencies.
Profession is today in a maturation phase that can be compared to what design went trough, in France, 10 years ago.
